Global Missions
Lula Whilden World Missions Goal: $100,000
100% Participation

Through the years, First Baptist Greenville members have served as volunteer missionaries in a variety of places across our state, nation and world. Recently, groups have made mission trips to Lady's Island, SC; Toronto, Canada; New York City; the Bahamas; Cuba; China; Charleston, SC; Hungary; and Bayou La Batre, AL. Ministries on these trips include medical, construction, teaching and a variety of other opportunities. Trips are often arranged in partnership with the Alliance of Baptists or the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF). Through an action-reflection model, team members on mission trips grow as a group and in their faith. Individually, our members have exercised their passion for Christian missions through recent trips to places including Guatemala, Malawi, Nicaragua, Tanzania, Haiti and Romania.
Mission support through prayer and giving is also a priority of First Baptist Greenville. Annually, members contribute above our regular tithes to the CBF Global Missions offering, the Alliance of Baptists Annual Missions offering, and the CBF of SC missions offering, as well as to local relief and disaster relief needs. In 1992, the church established the Faith Fund Trust, an endowment to fund local, state, national and international missions through First Baptist Greenville. At the end of 2003 the Faith Fund became a part of the First Baptist Church of Greenville, South Carolina Foundation, which continues to distribute funds for missions. The Missions Committee is responsible for deciding which mission projects will be supported with these additional funds, which provide a permanent revenue stream to support missions over and above the church's ongoing mission commitment.
Brochures are available at the church that describe many of the specific missions activities funded by the First Baptist Church of Greenville, South Carolina Foundation. The Foundation page can also be accessed by clicking here.
