Senior Adult: Upcoming Events
Lunch and More
On October 1, First Friday and Second
Tuesday will combine their efforts to begin a new
program to be known as Lunch and More.
Activities will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the
Fellowship Hall, with special entertainment at
11:00 a.m. by Jazmin Black, a recent Furman
graduate. The cost is only $2.00 for soup and
sandwiches; but reservations are required.

370-2522 ext. 137 by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 28.
Jazmin Black, a native of Charlotte, NC, received
her bachelor’s
degree in vocal performance from Furman University where she studied
with Gail Schoonmaker. In the 2009-10 school year, Ms. Black was
awarded the prestigious Furman University Cunningham Award, which is
given to the senior music major whom the faculty deems as having the
most promise.
She was selected as a young artist for Lyrique-en-mer Festival in Belle
Ile, France, where she spent the last two summers performing operas
and oratorios. In 2009, she was a featured soprano soloist in the Petite
Messe Solennelle by Rossini. She has also performed as a soloist with
the Furman University Orchestra, Furman University Singers, and the
Furman Chamber Choir on numerous occasions.
In fall 2009, she performed the role of the Mother in Gian Carlo
Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors which was presented by the
Furman Opera Theater. Ms. Black will be attending graduate school in
Fall 2011.
