Pastoral Care & Counseling

Pastoral Care and Counseling are important elements in the ministry of First Baptist Church. The pastoral staff tries to keep members of this family of faith connected to each other and caring for one another, especially in times of stress, pain, grief or celebration. Visits are made to members in the hospitals, extended care facilities, or who are homebound.

Pastoral counseling is a modern expression of the church's historic concern for wholeness and meaning in life. It helps individuals, couples and families resolve emotional, spiritual and relational problems. Health and wholeness involve a fragile balance of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and relational elements. The whole person is a union of these elements. "Salvation" and "Shalom" describe a total kind of healing of body, mind, and spirit that includes a restoration of relationships with God, oneself, and others.

Pastoral care and counseling needs can be addressed by calling 370-2522. There is always a pastor on call in case of emergency. That pastor can be reached by calling 233-2527 and leaving a message for the on-call pastor to retrieve after hours or by calling the beeper number at 460-8413.
