Kindergarten

First Baptist Kindergarten
First Baptist Kindergarten, a private preschool founded in 1952, serves 225 children ages two through five. The program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is licensed by the State of South Carolina. In 1989 the teaching staff began their study of the Reggio Approach, an educational philosophy which originated in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Integration of our interpretation of this philosophy guides the learning process.
Children are perceived as competent thinkers who may investigate possibilities with expertise. The classroom environment is established as a laboratory setting created to encourage each child's creative exploration. The foundational strength of the school encompasses the relationships built with each child and his family. Parents are partners in the learning process as they work together creating learning experiences with the teaching staff and the children. As each child develops strategies for research of his ideas, the child comes to know himself and his own beautiful giftedness.
