Bible Study Opportunities
Men's Wednesday Morning Bible Study
Facilitated by Dr. Bert Strange
Meets from 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. most Wednesdays in the Staff Room
beginning September
16 and running through December 16.
The group will study the passages scheduled in the Revised Common Lectionary
for the following Sunday, discerning themes, issues, and theological connections.
The scriptures will enable the group to focus on the themes of the church year.
Participants are encouraged to come, bring your Bible, and enter into the lively
discussion!
Sunday Evening Bible Study
Facilitated by Robin and Trevor Barton
Meets from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. most Sunday evenings in F-308 beginning September
13 and continuing through Spring 2010
The group will study the book of Acts using two additional books to enhance
the study
of the biblical text. The books are "The Cotton Patch Version
of Luke and Acts" by Clarence Jordan and "Clarence Jordan:
Turning Dreams into Deeds" by Henlee H. Barnette. Each participant is asked to
purchase these books prior to the beginning of the
study. They are available

This year, the participants in Bible Study and other small groups provided
on Sunday night
will be able to register their preschool children for childcare
for preschoolers, and activity options are being explored for elementary age children.
Senior high and middle school age youth will be in choir rehearsal and other activities.
Register for Sunday evening Bible Study, preschool childcare and/or Childrens' Ministry programming by calling Sandra Davis at 370-2522 ext. 111 by Friday, September 4. A minimum number of preschool and elementary age children must be met in order for childcare to be offered for these age groups.
Friday Morning Bible Study
Facilitated by Michelle McClendon
Meets from 10:00 -11:30 a.m. most Fridays in the Parlor beginning September
18 and continuing through Spring 2010
This group will delve into the life and writings of the apostle Paul. The
course will focus on
six of the shorter letters in the New Testament which
have been attributed to Paul at some
point in the history of biblical scholarship:
Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians,
First and Second Timothy. The
course will begin with a short overview of Paul's life and the time and culture
in which he lived and wrote.
The cost for the study is $30 and includes the additional text for the class.
