Diaconate
The Diaconate of First Baptist Church Greenville is comprised of men and women elected to serve three-year terms. Approximately one-third of the deacons rotate off the Diaconate each year. In the spring, a seven-person deacon nominating committee is elected by the congregation. That committee then recommends a slate of nominees to fill the open seats. Deacons take office in January each year. Once a deacon has completed a full term, he or she is ineligible for re-election for two years.
The Diaconate generally meets on the first Monday of each month. It elects its own officers.
