"We have received good news from the Office of Foreign Asset Control of the U.S. Dept. of the Treasury:  our application for a license to travel to Cuba has been approved. Receiving this approval means we can assemble and send a team of our folks to take the next step in cultivating our partnership with La Iglesia Bautista del Camino in Guanajay. The license authorizes multiple trips, and it expires Jan. 15, 2009. There are clear conditions accompanying the license, including the stipulations that only members and employees of our congregation may travel under this license, and “the activities undertaken in Cuba [must] constitute a full-time program of religious activities.”  I am confident we have the leadership necessary to put together another excellent missions experience in Cuba, and preparatory conversations have already begun."
-from senior pastor Jeff Rogers' News column on Jan. 29, 2007

There is also good news for the Alliance of Baptists. According to the Associated Baptist Press, "Treasury Department officials have dropped the threat of a $34,000 fine against the Allicance" for "alleged violations of the federal government's economic embargo against Cuba."
